Press release announcing postponement of the Whitingham Vermont 22nd annual Maple Festival
Today, several of our committee members met with members of the Lion’s Club and have come to the conclusion that there is no other choice then to postpone several events surrounding the upcoming Maple Festival amid concerns over the Coronavirus (COVID-19). All Events with the exceptions of the Sugarhouse Tours, given the time restriction of producing the syrup they will not be able to participate with a rescheduled event, we will let the Sugarhouses use their discretion as to whether they will still be open for tours. Please consult the specific house for their status.
We realize that this change in course is significant for the Jacksonville/Whtingham community, craft fair vendors and other partners, please know that this decision was not taken lightly. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work with you over the next few weeks on sorting through the ramifications of this difficult decision and reschedule the event. Please be patient as we will reach out to you as soon as possible.
The Whitingham Vermont Maple Festival Committee Members look forward to announcing the date for the rescheduled festival. We thank the public, our supporters and our volunteers for their understanding and cooperation during this unprecedented situation and for their commitment to our community.

The Maple Festival celebrates an important aspect of Whitingham’s economic and cultural heritage. Eight of our eighteen Whitingham sugar makers have graciously opened the doors of their sugar houses and given their time so that residents, visitors, and guests, alike will gain a better understanding and appreciation for ‘the art and science’ of Maple syrup and sugar making and the historical importance of ‘sugaring’ to our town. Whitingham is known as the birthplace of Brigham Young and there are two monuments in town noting Young’s achievements. The town is located in southern Vermont, about 25 miles north of Greenfield, Massachusetts, and between Bennington and Brattleboro, Vermont. There are a number of bed and breakfasts and small inns in and around the town.
